“Andrea Lev, Executive Director for Integrace Bayleigh Chase stated that Healthcare giving is growing and by 2020, they will be the largest group of five million of care givers.
“’This is the crisis of work shortages for caregivers. The number of people over the age of 65 is going to double by 2040, the number of people over 85 is going to triple in that same period of time. It will go from 8.5 million to 18 million people who are over the age of 85, and there is a deficit of paid caregivers and non paid caregivers,’ said Lev.
“She also added that by 2040, there will be an 11 million person gap of non paid caregivers.
“’If you have 11 million people missing from the non paid givers, where are going to go? You have to go to paid care givers, and there is going to be close to a million purchasing gap of paid caregivers. There are 16 healthcare givers, hospitals, home health, hospice, nursing centers, assisted living just in Talbot County alone; and all of them are significant piece of whats in that healthcare.”
